Boca Saves a Lautaro Blanco and Plans Braida for the Visit to Independiente

The key play in Avellaneda will happen in the left defensive sector. Boca Juniors will visit Independiente this Sunday without Lautaro Blanco, and Malcom Braida is the first option to replace him.

The decision comes after an intense semester. Blanco, 27, played all 24 matches in the second half of the year and started 23. He accumulated 2,024 minutes out of a possible 2,190, which equals 92.5 percent of the available playing time.

Physical preservation takes priority

Despite the accumulated wear, Blanco played the full ninety minutes in Brazil and provided the assist for Lautaro Di Lollo's goal. However, discomfort that emerged late in the match tilted the balance. The coaching staff chose to preserve him rather than take another risk with the schedule ahead.

Blanco's attacking contribution from left back has been notable. He has seven assists in the current tournament and has become one of the team's most productive creators from his position.

Braida appears in pole position to start against Independiente under coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena. Young player Matías Satas and Ayrton Costa are also under consideration, but the inclination is toward Braida.

“The physical issue in the final stretch of the last match was decisive. The priority is to preserve the player, and Braida is the leading option to replace him.”Boca Juniors

It is a demanding sequence for Boca. After the visit to Avellaneda, the team faces River in the clásico and continues its battle in the Clausura 2026 standings. The question is simple: can Braida cover the absence of one of the club's most regular players this semester?

• Lautaro Blanco is out due to accumulated fatigue and physical discomfort.
• Malcom Braida is the leading option to start at left back.
• Matías Satas and Ayrton Costa are also in the coach's consideration.
• Boca will next face River in the clásico after playing Independiente.
